The Cat the Vagabond and the Victim Cats in Trouble Mystery Leann Sweeney Books
Another charming novel by Leann Sweeney! This series keeps getting better & better. What I wouldn't give to have a cat like Clyde! In this 6th adventure of the Cats in Trouble Mystery series, cat quilter Jillian Hart agrees to take in lovable sweet Clyde who has traveled 200 miles back home to discover his master dead. After Clyde escapes, again, from Jillian's house, he discovers a second body. As Jillian tries to help solve the murders she also has to deal with a very persistent TV reporter, Emily, who is looking for her breakout story, & is constantly badgering Jillian for information. Add in the strange & eccentric relatives of Clyde's dead owner & you have a great cozy mystery. Helping Jillian solve the murders & family mysteries are Deputy Candace Carson, Jillian's stepdaughter Kara, & security expert/P.I. & boyfriend Tom Stewart. Great story & a surprising conclusion!
I, too, can't wait for book 7 - The Cat, the Sneak, & the Secret which unfortunately won't be out until Aug. of 2015.

The Cat the Vagabond and the Victim Cats in Trouble Mystery Leann Sweeney Books Reviews
This book is ok and the writing is fine, if one has an extremely high tolerance for somewhat affected and overly-precious characters, and a protagonist who expresses virtually nonstop angst and other emotions about felines on almost every page. At the very least, I'm a 4th generation cat person and advocate from a long family line who considers rescued strays and ferals a lifetime commitment, and firmly believes in spoiling them (and also a few dogs) to compensate for their period of homelessness too, but this book's protagonist struck me as being way over-the-top neurotic and overly-precious concerning cats. There was a "Mary Sue" vibe throughout, in fact, with characters being drawn as being rather affected and a bit "too much" in every way the wonderful protagonist, the perfect doting boyfriend, the fantastic doting step-daughter, etc. The mystery was ok, too, but the cloying preciousness of the characters and the trite cat everything had so little appeal for me that I'd not suffer through another book in this series. This would appeal, however, to anyone who prefers book characters to be fantasy-ideal and a protagonist who gushes about cats to the near exclusion of everything else.
I have read all the books in the Cats in Trouble series and I just can't get enough. I enjoy Cozy Mysteries and I currently follow a number of series, but this series is my favorite. Everything about it is perfect for me. I am a serious cat person, and the cat-related details in these books are so well researched and presented that it's obvious Leann knows and loves cats. The cat and human characters are so well developed throughout the series that I feel like I know them personally. However, they are presented so well in each book that you could read the books individually and they would still be wonderful stories on their own. In this book, I totally fell in love with Clyde - what a sweetheart - and I was very happy with the outcome for his future, as I also liked Theo and Birdie. This was a wonderful addition to the series.
One area where Leann is very skilled is that she has managed to keep the characters from previous books that we have come to care for, while still introducing new characters. That's not an easy balance. You can't feature every character predominantly in every book or there would be no room for the plot or new characters. And you need new characters to develop new plots. But Leann manages to at least reference the characters enough that you feel good that they are still around and a part of Jillian's life.
I sometimes feel with series books that after a while they can become less enjoyable, but with this series they just keep getting better. I can't wait for the next book in the series (The Cat, The Sneak, and The Secret), but I hate that I have to wait a year for it to be available. I hope that Leann continues to write new books in this series for a long, long time. In addition to the versions of these books (and some printed copies), I also have the audio versions, so I will continue to enjoy the first 6 books until #7 arrives.
